{"id":334,"date":"2022-04-02T18:04:09","date_gmt":"2022-04-02T16:04:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jeromegrandieresphotos.fr\/?p=334"},"modified":"2025-06-04T21:57:55","modified_gmt":"2025-06-04T19:57:55","slug":"corsair-provocateur-de-passion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jeromegrandieresphotos.fr\/index.php\/2022\/04\/02\/corsair-provocateur-de-passion\/","title":{"rendered":"CORSAIR : PROVOCATEUR DE PASSION"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p id=\"block-40d304bd-3ae0-4d5a-a9a4-18995d91b9ad\">S&rsquo;il y a bien un avion qui a fait \u00e9merger ma passion c&rsquo;est le Corsair, et notamment gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 une s\u00e9rie c\u00e9l\u00e8bre des ann\u00e9es 70 \u00ab\u00a0les t\u00eates brul\u00e9es\u00a0\u00bb, relatant l&rsquo;histoire d&rsquo;une escadrille dans le pacifique avec deux h\u00e9ros : le Major Gregory Boyington et son cheval de bataille, le Corsair.<br>Cette b\u00eate de somme est issue d&rsquo;un projet controvers\u00e9, qui mis du temps \u00e0 \u00eatre d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 et surtout \u00e0 r\u00e9pondre \u00e0 la demande initiale: d\u00e9coller d&rsquo;un porte avion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>En 1938, la Navy voulait un chasseur solide et performant pour ces portes avions; quatre constructeurs, dont Vought-Sikorsky, se sont mis en ordre de bataille pour sortir un chasseur embarqu\u00e9 r\u00e9pondant aux crit\u00e8res de la Navy. Rex Beisel, ing\u00e9nieur a\u00e9ronautique de Vought Sikorsky, pris en compte les demandes de la Navy et d\u00e9fini les caract\u00e9ristiques de ce qui deviendra le Corsair. Il voulait un chasseur petit et costaud. Pour tenir sur les surfaces r\u00e9duites d&rsquo;un porte avion, il fallait un avion avec des ailes \u00ab\u00a0pliables\u00a0\u00bb, un train d&rsquo;atterrissage cons\u00e9quent pour supporter les appontages et la structure de l&rsquo;avion devait \u00eatre suffisamment grande pour supporter le moteur \u00e0 18 cylindre en double \u00e9toile Pratt &amp; Whitney de 2000 ch que l&rsquo;ing\u00e9nieur avait choisi. Pour optimiser ce moteur , il a \u00e9t\u00e9 pr\u00e9vu de mettre une h\u00e9lice tripale de 4.06m de diam\u00e8tre. D\u00e9bute alors des essais en soufflerie pour finaliser la forme de l&rsquo;avion, des soudures par point sont utilis\u00e9s pour renforcer la cellule de l&rsquo;avion. L&rsquo;avion est arm\u00e9 de deux mitrailleuses dans chaque ailes ( une de 7.62 mm et l&rsquo;autre de 12.7mm ). Le premier vol a lieu fin mai 1940 . Pendant les premiers vols, l&rsquo;avion montre ces faiblesses mais aussi d&rsquo;ind\u00e9niable qualit\u00e9 ,dont sa robustesse qui sauva le pilote d&rsquo;essai lors d&rsquo;un crash pendant le 5\u00e8me vol. D\u00e9but octobre 1940, apr\u00e8s sa remise en \u00e9tat , le prototype atteint la vitesse de 650 km\/h, c&rsquo;est juste un record de vitesse car aucun autre chasseur am\u00e9ricain de l&rsquo;\u00e9poque n&rsquo;atteint cette vitesse. La Marine d\u00e9cide de faire tester le XF4U-1 par ces pilotes et ce jusqu&rsquo;en f\u00e9vrier 1941. Fin juin 1941 , la Navy commande 548 F4U-1 et le baptise Corsair. Par contre, la Navy a de nouvelles exigences qui feront apporter quelques modifications cons\u00e9quentes sur la cellule de l&rsquo;avion:  int\u00e9gration de  plus de mitrailleuses dans la voilure , ce qui fait que les r\u00e9servoirs initialement pr\u00e9vus dans les bords d&rsquo;attaques sont remplac\u00e9s par un r\u00e9servoir unique et plac\u00e9 dans le fuselage. Modifiant ainsi le centrage de l&rsquo;avion; en effet le r\u00e9servoir prend la place du poste de pilotage et ce dernier est recul\u00e9 d&rsquo;environs un m\u00e8tre , ce qui rend compliqu\u00e9 la visibilit\u00e9 du pilote vers l&rsquo;avant.<br>En septembre 1942, des essais d&rsquo;appontages sont effectu\u00e9s sur le porte avions USS Sangamon. Ces d\u00e9fauts de visibilit\u00e9s \u00e0 l&rsquo;appontage et une tendance \u00e0 rebondir lors du contact avec le pont d&rsquo;envol oblige la Navy \u00e0 prendre la d\u00e9cision de n&rsquo;utiliser le Corsair qu&rsquo;\u00e0 partir de base terrestre. Ceci malgr\u00e9 quelques modifications apport\u00e9es par Vought pour am\u00e9liorer les appontages ( r\u00e9hausse du poste de pilotage , retardateur de d\u00e9crochage, modification roulette et train d&rsquo;atterrissage ).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vu son interdiction d&rsquo;appontage, apr\u00e8s avoir \u00e9quip\u00e9 la VF12, ce sont finalement les marines qui seront \u00e9quip\u00e9 de cet avion ( dont la fameuse VMF 214 command\u00e9es par le Major Gregory Boyington ). Face aux commandes croissantes de F4U-1, Vought travaillera avec des sous traitants pour construire des Corsair, ainsi Brewster en construit sous la d\u00e9nomination F3A-1 et Good Year sous la d\u00e9nomination FG-1. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery columns-0 is-cropped has-nested-images columns-default\"><ul class=\"blocks-gallery-grid\"><\/ul><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Le Corsair eu diff\u00e9rents d\u00e9veloppements tout au long du conflit  et apr\u00e8s guerre:<br><strong>-Le F4U-1C<\/strong> avec 4 canons de 20 mm \u00e0 la place des mitrailleuses, seulement 200 exemplaires construit  suite \u00e0 des soucis de maintenance des canons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>-Le F4U-1D:<\/strong> emport suppl\u00e9mentaires possibles comme r\u00e9servoirs pendulaires, roquettes et bombe de 450 kg . le moteur est un Pratt et Witney R2800-8W \u00e0 injection de 2250 ch. Vought et Sikorsky se s\u00e9parant , cette version est construite par Chance Vought Aircraft Inc ainsi que par Brewster (F3A-1d ) et Goodyear ( FG-1d). Une derni\u00e8re modification de la course des amortisseurs du train d&rsquo;atterrissage en 1944 permis de supprimer ces rebonds si dangereux et de qualifier le Corsair sur porte avion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Plusieurs F4U-1 sont encore en \u00e9tat de vol, surtout aux Etats Unis, on peut en voir un aussi en Angleterre qui traverse la manche de temps en temps pour notre plus grand \u00e0 basse altitude pour intercepter les Kamikaze , il sera \u00e9quip\u00e9 d&rsquo;un moteur R4360-4 de 3000ch ( 28 cylindre en \u00e9toiles ), verri\u00e8re en goutte d&rsquo;eau pour am\u00e9liorer la vison , une alimentation en air sur le dessus du capot moteur ; la silhouette du fuselage du Corsair change beaucoup. Ne satisfaisant pas aux demandes premi\u00e8res , cette version fut abandonn\u00e9e et mis de c\u00f4t\u00e9. Des ann\u00e9es plus tard les quelques exemplaires construits ont fait le bonheur de pilote lors de courses d&rsquo;avions .<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>-Le F4U-5 et AU-1<\/strong>: Versions qui arrive en 1945 apr\u00e8s la seconde guerre mondiale, seront \u00e9quip\u00e9s d&rsquo;un Pratt &amp; Whitney de R2800-32W de 2300ch et arm\u00e9s de quatre canon de 20mm, d&rsquo;une nouvelle verri\u00e8re , d&rsquo;ailes renforc\u00e9es. Il y aura aussi des versions d\u00e9riv\u00e9es  N et P pour la chasse de nuit et la reconnaissance photographique. Un autre version du F4U5 appel\u00e9 AU-1 servira d&rsquo;avion appui basse altitude , il aura un blindage renforc\u00e9 et des supports de roquettes Principalement utilis\u00e9 par les Etats Unis pendant la seconde guerre mondiale, il fut aussi vendu \u00e0 l&rsquo;Angleterre pour le Fleet Air Arm et \u00e0 la Nouvelle Z\u00e9lande  pour la  Royal New Zelande Air Force. Le reste des pays ayant utilis\u00e9 le Corsair l&rsquo;ont fait apr\u00e8s guerre comme l&rsquo;Argentine, le Honduras et la France.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aujourd&rsquo;hui, il reste encore de nombreux Corsair , conserv\u00e9s dans des mus\u00e9es  mais aussi maintenus en \u00e9tat de vol et on peut remercier ces collectionneurs, m\u00e9canos et pilotes qui maintiennent la vie de cette l\u00e9gende. La majorit\u00e9 \u00e9tant bien s\u00fbr visible aux Etat Unis ( 25 volants et quelques projets de reconstruction en cours ), on a la chance en Europe et notamment en France, de pouvoir admirer quelques exemplaires en vol.  Parfois les organisateurs de meeting europ\u00e9ens arrive \u00e0 rassembler deux voire trois Corsair, pour les faire \u00e9voluer ensemble et l\u00e0 c&rsquo;est juste \u00e9norme et vibrant
